Transline Herbicide is a selective postemergence herbicide containing 40.9% clopyralid for control of difficult broadleaf weeds and selected woody brush species in professional vegetation-management programs. Labeled uses include non-crop areas, forests and tree plantations, rights-of-way, industrial sites, wildlife openings, rangeland, permanent grass pastures, and other specified sites.

Clopyralid provides systemic Group 4 synthetic auxin activity with excellent selectivity to many established grasses and labeled tree species. Transline is especially valuable for invasive weeds such as knapweeds and thistles, while its residual activity, 2-hour rainfastness, and low-volatility characteristics make it well suited to professional range, forestry, and rights-of-way programs.

Labeled Use Sites

Transline is labeled for non-crop areas including industrial manufacturing and storage sites; rights-of-way such as roadsides, electrical lines, communication lines, pipelines, and railroads; forest sites and tree plantations; wildlife openings and management areas; and rangeland and permanent grass pastures where labeled. It may also be used in selected Christmas tree, cottonwood, poplar, eucalyptus, and forestry programs according to site-specific directions and restrictions.

Target Weeds

Transline controls labeled broadleaf weeds including diffuse knapweed, spotted knapweed, Canada thistle, musk thistle, bull thistle, Italian thistle, yellow starthistle, dandelion, burdock, cocklebur, horseweed, ragweed, clovers, curly dock, oxeye daisy, prickly lettuce, smartweed, sowthistle, sunflower, vetch, and other listed broadleaf weeds. Russian knapweed and certain other perennial weeds are labeled for suppression rather than complete control. Labeled woody plants and vines include eastern redbud, locust, mimosa, wisteria, and kudzu.

Application Notes

Apply Transline to actively growing weeds. General broadcast rates vary by use site and target, with many programs ranging from 1/4 to 1 1/3 pt per acre. Knapweed and thistle programs commonly use the higher portion of the labeled rate range depending on weed species, size, growth stage, and environmental conditions. Transline is rainfast within 2 hours after application.

Adjuvant recommendations vary by use pattern. Non-crop broadcast applications may use a nonionic surfactant according to label directions, while surfactants or crop oils may increase tree injury in certain conifer and forestry applications. Avoid application to sensitive broadleaf crops and ornamentals, and follow all grazing, manure, compost, crop-rotation, and site-specific restrictions on the current label.
