Aquatic surfactants and adjuvants help certain labeled herbicide or algaecide sprays wet, spread, stick, or penetrate plant surfaces. Only products specifically approved for aquatic use should be used in or near water when the pesticide label calls for an adjuvant.

Choosing the Right Product

Start with the pesticide label to determine whether an adjuvant is required, permitted, or prohibited. Compare nonionic surfactants, sinking or deposition aids, drift-management products, and other aquatic-labeled additives by concentration and intended function.

Use and Application Considerations

Use the exact labeled rate and mixing order, and confirm compatibility before preparing a full tank. Do not substitute a general-purpose surfactant for an aquatic-labeled product. Follow all water-use, environmental, cleanup, and personal-protective-equipment directions.
