Sumagic Plant Growth Regulator

Sumagic Plant Growth Regulator is a professional ornamental PGR containing 0.055% uniconazole-P for producing compact, well-proportioned, marketable plants in commercial greenhouse production. Sumagic reduces internode elongation by inhibiting gibberellin biosynthesis, helping growers control plant height while maintaining attractive crop form and quality.

In addition to growth regulation, Sumagic may improve desirable ornamental characteristics including darker plant color, higher chlorophyll content, thicker leaves, stronger stems, increased water retention, and in some crops increased flower number or size. Its flexible label supports foliar spray, drench, bulb or cutting dip, and pre-plant soil-surface applications for a wide range of container-grown ornamental crops.

Features & Benefits

✓ Reduces internode elongation to produce more compact and marketable ornamental crops

✓ Inhibits gibberellin biosynthesis for effective professional plant-height management

✓ May improve plant color, chlorophyll content, leaf thickness, stem strength, and water retention

✓ Supports foliar spray, drench, bulb dip, cutting dip, and pre-plant soil-surface applications

✓ Root-applied treatments are absorbed and translocated through xylem tissue to plant terminals

✓ Broad ornamental label includes bedding plants, poinsettias, chrysanthemums, lilies, azaleas, geraniums, bulb crops, and woody ornamentals

✓ Provides flexible rate ranges so growers can fine-tune growth regulation by species, cultivar, environment, and production goal

Labeled Use Sites

Sumagic is labeled for use in commercial greenhouses, lathhouses, and shadehouses where plants are grown in containers. Labeled ornamental uses include bedding plants, annual and perennial potted crops, poinsettias, chrysanthemums, geraniums, Easter lilies and other bulb crops, florist azaleas, woody ornamental crops, and additional container-grown ornamentals according to the crop-specific directions on the label. Sumagic is not labeled for food crops.

Plant Growth & Quality Uses

Sumagic is used to manage plant height and produce more compact growth by reducing internode elongation. Depending on crop, rate, timing, and application method, it may also improve plant color and overall appearance. Foliar treatments regulate treated shoots directly, while drench and pre-plant soil applications take advantage of root uptake and xylem translocation to provide more uniform height control.

Crop response can vary substantially by species, cultivar, temperature, light level, fertility, irrigation, growing medium, container size, and production system. First-time users should begin with the lowest labeled rate on a small number of plants and adjust subsequent applications according to plant response. Excessive rates can cause severe growth retardation and negatively affect flowering, appearance, quality, and marketability.

Application Notes

For most foliar applications, apply a uniform spray volume of approximately 2 quarts of finished spray per 100 sq ft of bench area unless crop-specific directions state otherwise. Sumagic may also be used as a drench, pre-plant soil-surface treatment, bulb soak, or cutting dip. For a typical 6-inch pot drench, approximately 4 fl oz of finished solution is used, with volume adjusted for container size.

Apply Sumagic to actively growing, well-watered plants and avoid applications during environmental stress or extreme temperatures. Do not apply through irrigation systems. Do not mix Sumagic with pesticides, fertilizers, wetting agents, spreader-stickers, or other adjuvants. Do not apply to food crops. Growing media containing high levels of pine bark may reduce activity, especially with drench applications.
