Sulfentrazone 4SC Select is a professional selective herbicide containing 39.6% sulfentrazone for preemergence and postemergence control of labeled broadleaf weeds, grassy weeds, sedges, nutsedge, and kyllinga in established turfgrass and non-crop sites. Its Group 14 PPO-inhibiting chemistry provides both soil activity against germinating weeds and rapid postemergence activity against susceptible emerged weeds.

Labeled Use Sites

Sulfentrazone 4SC Select is labeled for use in established seeded, sodded, or sprigged turfgrass, including residential and institutional lawns, athletic fields, golf course fairways and roughs, and commercial sod farms. Labeled cool-season turfgrasses include creeping bentgrass, fine fescue, tall fescue, perennial ryegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, and rough bluegrass. Warm-season turfgrasses include bahiagrass, buffalograss, carpetgrass, centipedegrass, kikuyugrass, seashore paspalum, zoysiagrass, bermudagrass, hybrid bermudagrass, and St. Augustinegrass.

Non-crop uses include railroad rights-of-way, railroad yards and crossings, highway and roadside rights-of-way, pipeline and utility rights-of-way, electric utility substations, pipeline pumping stations, transmission towers, industrial areas, tank farms, storage areas, parking areas, lumber yards, airports, military installations, fence rows, and other labeled non-crop sites. Do not apply to ornamental beds or landscape ornamental plants, and do not apply to golf course tees or putting greens.

Application Notes

For established cool-season turfgrass, apply generally at 4 to 8 fl oz per acre, subject to turf-specific restrictions; creeping bentgrass is limited to a maximum of 4 fl oz per acre. Warm-season turfgrass uses generally range from 8 to 12 fl oz per acre. Do not exceed 12 fl oz of product per acre during any 12-month period, and allow at least 35 days between applications.

For best postemergence grassy-weed control, treat actively growing grasses while they are small and before tillering. Broadleaf weeds respond best when treated shortly after emergence. Purple nutsedge is best managed with split applications: cool-season turf programs begin with 2 to 4 fl oz per acre followed by 4 to 6 fl oz per acre; warm-season programs begin with 6 to 8 fl oz per acre followed by 4 to 6 fl oz per acre. Prime Source does not advise routine use of surfactants or adjuvants with Sulfentrazone 4SC Select because temporary turf discoloration may occur.
