Scottish Crest Fine Fescue Mixture is a professional cool-season turfgrass blend combining improved varieties of Chewings fescue, hard fescue, creeping red fescue, and sheep fescue. The complementary fine-fescue species produce attractive, fine-textured turf suited to shaded, cool, and low-input environments.

Scottish Crest is designed for golf-course roughs, out-of-play areas, bunker surrounds, and other low-maintenance turf. It may also be used for wildlife cover, roadsides, wildflower areas, and low-maintenance slopes where reduced mowing, lower fertilizer and moisture requirements, and erosion-control support are desired.

Its combination of shade tolerance, cold tolerance, fine leaf texture, and reduced input requirements makes it particularly useful where conventional intensively maintained turf is not practical.

Seed Mixture

Scottish Crest contains improved varieties representing four fine-fescue types: Chewings fescue, hard fescue, creeping red fescue, and sheep fescue. Chewings and hard fescues contribute dense, fine-textured bunch-type growth, while creeping red fescue contributes spreading capability. Sheep fescue adds low-input adaptability and a fine-textured appearance.

Seeding & Establishment

Seed at 4 to 6 pounds per 1,000 square feet or approximately 200 to 250 pounds per acre. Prepare a firm, clean seedbed and distribute the seed uniformly. Maintain suitable seed-to-soil contact and consistent surface moisture during germination and early establishment.

Germination is expected in approximately 7 to 10 days under ideal conditions. Soil temperature, moisture, planting depth, weather, and site preparation can affect germination and establishment time.
