Occur SC Herbicide

Occur SC Herbicide is a professional broad-spectrum herbicide containing 29.7% topramezone for preemergence and systemic postemergence control or growth suppression of labeled broadleaf and grassy weeds. Occur is a generic equivalent to Frequency Herbicide and is labeled for Christmas tree plantations, conifer and hardwood plantations, field-grown ornamental production, rights-of-way, industrial vegetation management, bareground programs, and other specified noncrop sites.

As an HRAC Group 27 HPPD inhibitor, Occur is absorbed through weed leaves, roots, and shoots and translocated to growing points where it inhibits carotenoid biosynthesis. Its combination of residual preemergence activity and systemic postemergence control makes Occur a versatile tool for professional vegetation-management programs, selective plantation weed control, and directed applications in field-grown ornamentals.

Features & Benefits

Provides both preemergence residual control and systemic postemergence activity against labeled broadleaf and grassy weeds

Controls important weeds including crabgrass, goosegrass, foxtails, kochia, marestail, pigweeds, waterhemp, ragweed, and other labeled species

HRAC Group 27 HPPD-inhibiting chemistry provides a distinct mode of action for professional resistance-management programs

Labeled for Christmas tree, conifer, and hardwood plantations as well as field-grown ornamental production

Fits bareground vegetation programs on railroad, utility, highway, pipeline, industrial, airport, storage, and other noncrop sites

Can be used for selective weed control in specified cool-season and native warm-season perennial grasses on noncrop sites

Generic equivalent to Frequency Herbicide with professional topramezone chemistry for specialty vegetation-management applications

Labeled Use Sites

Occur SC is labeled for Christmas tree plantations, conifer plantations, hardwood plantations, and field-grown ornamental production. Noncrop uses include railroad, utility, highway, and pipeline rights-of-way; highway guardrails, delineators, and sign posts; utility substations; petroleum tank farms; pumping installations; farmyards and areas around farm buildings; fence rows; storage areas; airports; and nonirrigation ditchbanks. Occur may also be used in bareground programs and for selective weed control in specified perennial grasses on highway roadsides, utility rights-of-way, railroad crossings, airports, drainage ditches, and other industrial noncropland sites. Do not apply in greenhouses, shadehouses, or other enclosed ornamental-production structures.

Target Weeds

Occur controls or suppresses labeled broadleaf weeds including Palmer amaranth, Powell amaranth, burcucumber, carpetweed, common chickweed, cocklebur, dandelion, hairy galinsoga, horseweed or marestail, jimsonweed, kochia, common lambsquarters, common and Venice mallow, morningglories, mustards, black and hairy nightshades, prostrate, redroot, smooth and tumble pigweeds, prickly lettuce, common and giant ragweed, shepherd’s purse, prickly sida, smartweeds, volunteer and wild sunflower, Russian thistle, velvetleaf, common and tall waterhemp, and white clover. Labeled grassy weeds include barnyardgrass, large and smooth crabgrass, woolly cupgrass, giant, green and yellow foxtail, goosegrass, seedling johnsongrass, wild proso millet, fall panicum, shattercane, broadleaf signalgrass, and sprangletop. Dallisgrass and selected broadleaf species are labeled for growth suppression rather than full control.

Application Notes

For general noncrop preemergence or early postemergence applications, apply Occur SC at 4 to 16 fl oz per acre. Apply before labeled weeds exceed the maximum size or leaf stage shown on the label. Postemergence treatments require thorough spray coverage and must include an oil-based adjuvant. Use 10 or more gal of water per acre for ground broadcast applications; spot treatments use a 0.25% to 0.5% Occur solution with an appropriate adjuvant. Preemergence performance depends on adequate soil moisture for activation.

Christmas tree applications are limited to 4 fl oz per acre per application and must be directed toward the base of trees; do not make over-the-top applications. Field-grown ornamental applications are also limited to 4 fl oz per acre per application with a minimum 30-day interval. Do not exceed 16 fl oz per acre per year for any labeled use. Postemergence applications require a methylated seed oil or crop oil concentrate at 1.0% to 1.5% v/v unless another label-permitted additive program is used. Do not apply to areas grazed or cut for hay, and do not apply through irrigation systems. Always read and follow the complete product label.
