Its advanced microemulsion formulation delivers systemic HRAC Group 4 synthetic-auxin activity against difficult weeds including clover, dandelion, chickweed, plantain, oxalis, thistle, ground ivy, spurge, Virginia buttonweed, and many other annual and perennial broadleaf species.

Escalade 2 is labeled for ornamental turf lawns in residential, industrial, and institutional settings; parks; cemeteries; athletic fields; golf courses; sod farms; roadsides; and rights-of-way. Golf-course uses include fairways, aprons, tees, and roughs, but golf course greens and bentgrass tees are excluded. Labeled ornamental turfgrasses include bluegrass, fescue, ryegrass, bentgrass, bahiagrass, bermudagrass, and zoysiagrass. The current label specifically prohibits use on centipedegrass, St. Augustinegrass, dichondra, and turf where desirable clover is present.

Application Notes

For ornamental lawns and turf, apply 2 to 3 pints of Escalade 2 in 20 to 240 gallons of water per acre, equivalent to approximately 0.75 to 1.1 fl oz in 0.5 to 5.5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq ft. On closely mowed golf-course fairway bentgrass, do not exceed 2 pints per acre and allow at least four weeks before a second treatment. Use lower rates when turf is under stress.

For sod farms, rates vary by turfgrass: bluegrass, ryegrass, and fescue use 2 to 3 pints per acre; creeping bentgrass uses 1.25 pints per acre; and common or hybrid bermudagrass, bahiagrass, and zoysiagrass use 1.5 to 1.8 pints per acre. Do not apply to St. Augustinegrass. Surfactants may improve weed control but can also reduce turf selectivity and increase the potential for turf injury.
