Horsepower Selective Herbicide is a highly concentrated professional three-way postemergence herbicide combining MCPA, triclopyr, and dicamba for broad-spectrum control of more than 150 labeled broadleaf weeds. Its HRAC Group 4 chemistry provides dependable control of difficult weeds including dandelion, chickweed, clover, plantain, oxalis, spurge, wild violet, ground ivy, thistle, and many other annual and perennial broadleaf species.

Horsepower contains no 2,4-D, making it an excellent alternative for properties or weed-control programs where the use of 2,4-D is a concern. The concentrated formulation can treat up to four acres per gallon at the low labeled broadcast rate and is suitable for both broad-area and spot-treatment programs on labeled residential, commercial, institutional, athletic, park, cemetery, and golf-course turf.

Labeled Use Sites

Horsepower is labeled for ornamental turf lawns in residential, industrial, and institutional settings; parks; cemeteries; athletic fields; and golf courses including fairways, aprons, tees, and roughs. Bentgrass tees and golf course greens are excluded. Labeled turfgrasses include bluegrass, fescue, ryegrass, bentgrass, bahiagrass, bermudagrass, and zoysiagrass. Horsepower is not labeled for turf being grown for resale or other commercial sod production, commercial seed production, or research purposes.

Application Notes

For ornamental lawns and turf, apply Horsepower at 2 to 3 pints in 20 to 240 gallons of water per acre, equivalent to approximately 0.73 to 1.10 fl oz in 0.5 to 5.5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq ft. Apply to bluegrass, fescue, ryegrass, bentgrass excluding golf course greens and tees, bahiagrass, bermudagrass, and zoysiagrass according to label directions. Nufarm recommends treating actively growing weeds and avoiding mowing for 1 to 2 days before and after application.

Do not exceed 3.2 pints of Horsepower per acre per year. A maximum of two applications per year may be made with at least 21 days between treatments. Avoid broadcast applications when temperatures exceed 90°F. Do not apply to carpetgrass or dichondra. Centipedegrass and St. Augustinegrass are non-recommended turf species and should not be treated unless potential turf injury is acceptable and a small-area tolerance test has first been conducted.
