Drive XLR8 Post-Emergent Herbicide

BASF Drive XLR8 is a professional selective postemergence herbicide containing 18.92% quinclorac for fast, systemic control of difficult grassy and broadleaf weeds in labeled cool- and warm-season turf. Its Group 4 synthetic auxin chemistry is absorbed through both foliage and roots and translocated throughout susceptible weeds, providing excellent control of crabgrass, foxtails, kikuyugrass, torpedograss, clover, dandelion, dollarweed, and other troublesome turf weeds.

Drive XLR8 features BASF's proprietary water-based formulation for rapid plant uptake, rainfastness in less than one hour, and up to 30 days of residual activity. It is particularly effective against crabgrass across multiple growth stages, including mature crabgrass, and may be applied broadcast or as a spot treatment on residential lawns, commercial turf, golf courses excluding greens and collars, sports fields, sod farms, parks, roadsides, schools, and other labeled turf sites.

Labeled Use Sites

Drive XLR8 is labeled for residential and non-residential turfgrass including airports, athletic fields, cemeteries, golf courses excluding greens and collars, grounds and lawns around residential and commercial establishments, houses of worship, military and institutional grounds, multifamily dwellings, parks, picnic grounds, roadsides, schools, and sod farms.

Highly tolerant established turf includes common bermudagrass, annual bluegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, buffalograss, tall fescue, annual ryegrass, perennial ryegrass, and zoysiagrass. Moderately tolerant turf includes creeping bentgrass, hybrid bermudagrass, rough bluegrass or Poa trivialis, Chewings fescue, hard fescue, red fescue, fine fescue when used in a blend, and seashore paspalum. Do not apply to bahiagrass, carpetgrass, centipedegrass, colonial or seaside bentgrass, dichondra, St. Augustinegrass, or turf where desirable clover is present.

Target Weeds

Grassy Weeds: barnyardgrass, large crabgrass, smooth crabgrass, giant foxtail, green foxtail, yellow foxtail, kikuyugrass, broadleaf signalgrass, and torpedograss.

Broadleaf Weeds: field bindweed, hop clover, red clover, white clover, English daisy, common dandelion, dollarweed, Carolina geranium, horseweed or marestail, black medic, morningglory species, common speedwell, slender speedwell, thymeleaf speedwell, and wild violet.

Crabgrass Growth Stages: optimum control is obtained on newly germinated crabgrass through the 1-tiller stage and again on mature crabgrass with five or more tillers. Crabgrass and other annual grasses in the 2- to 4-tiller stage may require a sequential application under some conditions.

Application Notes

For standard broadcast applications, apply 64 fl oz per acre, equivalent to 1.45 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft, in at least 20 gallons of water per acre. Spot treatments use the same 1.45 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft rate. Apply to actively growing weeds that are not under drought, temperature, fertility, mowing, or other environmental stress. Do not mow for two days before or two days after treatment. For best results, avoid irrigation for 24 hours after application; if rainfall does not occur within 2 to 7 days, approximately 1/2 inch of irrigation is desirable.

Methylated seed oil (MSO) is the label-preferred adjuvant for consistent postemergence weed control at 0.55 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft, equivalent to 1.5 pints per acre. If MSO is unavailable, the label permits a crop oil concentrate or another high-quality surfactant. Vortex XTRA is an MVO-based product rather than an MSO and should therefore be positioned only as a potential alternative high-quality surfactant, not as an MSO substitute. Do not add an adjuvant to newly emerged turf seedlings until 28 days after emergence. When Drive XLR8 is tank mixed with an emulsifiable concentrate product, do not add an additional adjuvant unless permitted by the applicable labels.
