Cool Power Selective Herbicide

Cool Power Selective Herbicide is a professional three-way postemergence broadleaf herbicide combining MCPA, triclopyr, and dicamba for effective weed control during cooler weather conditions. Its premium ester formulation is especially well suited for winter weed control, completely dormant warm-season turf, and early-season applications in transition zones and cool-season climates.

Cool Power provides systemic HRAC Group 4 activity against difficult broadleaf weeds including chickweed, dandelion, plantain, oxalis, spurge, ground ivy, wild violet, clover, and many other labeled species. Because the formulation contains MCPA rather than 2,4-D, it also provides a useful alternative for professional accounts where the use of 2,4-D is a concern.

Labeled Use Sites

Cool Power is labeled for ornamental turf lawns in residential, industrial, and institutional settings; parks; cemeteries; athletic fields; golf courses; roadsides; rights-of-way; and other similar turf and non-crop areas. Golf-course uses include fairways, aprons, tees, and roughs, but bentgrass tees and golf greens are excluded. Labeled turf includes bluegrass, fescue, ryegrass, bentgrass, bahiagrass, bermudagrass, and zoysiagrass. Cool Power is not labeled for turf grown for commercial sod production or commercial seed production.

Application Notes

For ornamental lawns and turf, apply 2.5 to 3.5 pints of Cool Power in 20 to 240 gallons of water per acre, equivalent to approximately 0.91 to 1.29 fl oz in 0.5 to 5.5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq ft. When treating completely dormant warm-season turf, the higher labeled rates may be used. When warm-season turf is actively growing, use the lower rate and avoid applications during transition from dormancy to green-up or from green-up to dormancy.

For best results, treat actively growing weeds and avoid mowing for 1 to 2 days before and after application. Avoid broadcast applications when air temperatures exceed 85°F. Do not exceed 4 pints of product per acre per year or two applications per year, and maintain at least 21 days between treatments. Surfactants may improve weed activity but can also reduce turf selectivity and increase the potential for turf injury.
