Labeled Use Sites

Chlorothalonil 720 SFT is labeled for golf-course greens, tees, and fairways; sod farms; other approved nonresidential and ornamental turf; commercial nurseries; greenhouses; landscapes; ornamental plants; Christmas tree plantings; conifer nursery beds; and labeled apricot, cherry, nectarine, peach, plum, and prune trees. Greenhouse use is limited to the ornamental-plant directions on the label.

Do not use on home lawns or turf associated with apartment buildings, daycare centers, playgrounds, playfields, recreational-park athletic fields, school athletic fields, campgrounds, churches, or theme parks. Do not use on forests or make golf-course applications through irrigation systems.

Target Diseases

Labeled turf diseases include dollar spot, brown patch, leaf spot, melting-out, brown blight, gray leaf spot, red thread, anthracnose, copper spot, stem rust, dichondra leaf spot, gray snow mold, pink snow mold, Fusarium patch, and algal scum.

Ornamental diseases include numerous leaf spots and foliar blights, Botrytis blight, black spot on roses, flower and blossom blights, Cylindrocladium stem canker, Phytophthora leaf blight and dieback, powdery mildews, rusts, Taphrina blister, and scab. Conifer uses include labeled needlecasts, Scleroderris canker, Sirococcus tip blight, Botrytis seedling blight, Phoma twig blight, brown spot, and needle rust. Selected fruit-tree uses include leaf curl, Coryneum blight, cherry leaf spot, apricot or peach scab, black knot, and related labeled diseases.

Application Notes

Use Chlorothalonil 720 SFT preventively and begin applications when conditions favor disease development. Thorough, uniform coverage is essential. Slowly invert the container several times before pouring, add the measured product slowly while filling the spray tank, and maintain agitation during filling and application.

For turf, labeled rates generally range from 2 to 5.5 fluid ounces per 1,000 square feet on golf-course greens and tees, with retreatment intervals commonly ranging from 7 to 14 days depending on the disease. Fairway, sod-farm, lawn, and other approved turf rates are expressed per acre and vary by disease. Do not mow or irrigate treated turf until the spray deposit has dried.

For ornamental plants, the general rate is 1.375 pints per 100 gallons of water, applied in enough spray volume to cover the plant parts requiring protection. Repeat at 7- to 14-day intervals while conditions favor disease. Test a small group of unfamiliar ornamental varieties and observe them for 7 to 10 days before treating a commercial planting.

Do not add pesticides, fertilizers, or surfactants unless prior use has demonstrated that the mixture is compatible, effective, and noninjurious. Do not tank mix with oils or oil-based adjuvants. The label specifically prohibits combinations with DiPel, Latron AG-98, Latron B-1956, Triton AG-98, and Triton B-1956 on listed crops because phytotoxicity may occur.
