Boulder 6.3 Herbicide

Boulder 6.3 Herbicide is a high-load professional vegetation-management herbicide containing triclopyr BEE for control of unwanted woody plants and annual and perennial broadleaf weeds. Labeled uses include forests, permanent grass pastures, rangeland, CRP acres, rights-of-way, non-crop and industrial sites, non-irrigation ditch banks, fence rows, and selected ornamental turf.

Boulder 6.3 delivers 6.3 lb acid equivalent of triclopyr per gallon and uses Alligare's proprietary reduced-volatility formulation technology. As a Group 4 synthetic auxin herbicide, it provides flexible woody-plant and broadleaf weed control through broadcast, foliar, basal bark, cut-stump, dormant-stem, and other labeled application methods.

Labeled Use Sites

Boulder 6.3 is labeled for forests, permanent grass pastures, rangeland, Conservation Reserve Program acres, electrical and communication rights-of-way, pipelines, roadsides, railroads, fence rows, non-irrigation ditch banks, areas around farm buildings, industrial manufacturing and storage sites, and other labeled non-crop areas. Ornamental turf uses include perennial bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, and tall fescue on sod farms, commercial turf, and golf courses except greens. Certain applications may also be made to grazed areas and wildlife openings according to label directions.

Target Weeds

Boulder 6.3 controls numerous labeled woody plants including blackberry, buckthorn, cottonwood, dogwood, elm, hawthorn, kudzu, locust, maples, oaks, pine, poison ivy, poison oak, poplar, salt cedar, sumac, sweetgum, tree-of-heaven, Virginia creeper, wax myrtle, willow, and other susceptible brush species. Labeled broadleaf weeds include black medic, bull thistle, burdock, Canada thistle, chicory, clover, curly dock, dandelion, dogfennel, field bindweed, goldenrod, ground ivy, lambsquarters, lespedeza, mustard, oxalis, plantain, purple loosestrife, ragweed, sericea lespedeza, smartweed, sweet clover, tropical soda apple, vetch, wild carrot, wild lettuce, wild violet, and yarrow.

Application Notes

Application rates and carriers vary substantially by use site and treatment method. For general foliar applications in rights-of-way, industrial sites, forests, and other labeled non-crop areas, Boulder 6.3 may be applied at 1.25 pt to 5 qt per acre depending on target species, site, and treatment method. Apply foliar treatments when woody plants and weeds are actively growing and use sufficient spray volume for complete coverage. Basal bark, cut-stump, dormant-stem, and other specialized woody-plant treatments require use-specific concentrations and carriers.

Adjuvant requirements vary by application. Alligare's technical bulletin recommends a nonionic surfactant at 0.25% v/v or methylated seed oil at 1% of total spray volume for appropriate applications, while the product label contains use-pattern-specific surfactant and oil directions. Follow the applicable label directions for the treatment method. Do not apply to golf greens, through irrigation systems, or directly to desirable broadleaf plants. Turf, grazing, annual maximum, and forestry restrictions vary by site.
