BotaniGard ES Biological Insecticide
BotaniGard ES Biological Insecticide is a professional biological insecticide containing 11.3% Beauveria bassiana strain GHA for control of whiteflies, aphids, thrips, mealybugs, psyllids, plant bugs, weevils, mites, and other labeled pests. It is registered for greenhouse, shadehouse, nursery, field-crop, ornamental, fruit, vegetable, herb, berry, landscape, turf, and other labeled production uses.
BotaniGard ES acts by contact as fungal spores attach to susceptible pests, germinate, penetrate the cuticle, and grow within the insect. This biological mode of action makes BotaniGard ES a useful stand-alone treatment, tank-mix component, or rotation partner in conventional and organic integrated pest-management programs.

Labeled Use Sites
BotaniGard ES is labeled for greenhouse, shadehouse, indoor and outdoor nursery, field-crop, orchard, landscape, interiorscape, turf, sod, forestry, rangeland, pasture, and mushroom-production applications. Labeled crops and plants include ornamentals, flowers, trees, shrubs, herbs, spices, vegetables, fruits, berries, tree nuts, and other food and nonfood crops listed on the label.
Target Pests
BotaniGard ES controls labeled aphids, whiteflies, thrips, mealybugs, psyllids, leafhoppers, planthoppers, plant bugs, beetles, weevils, caterpillars, borers, grasshoppers, locusts, crickets, mushroom flies, phorid flies, and mites including broad mites, rust mites, red mites, and two-spotted spider mites. Pest registrations and permitted uses vary by crop and state; certain labeled pests are not registered for control in California.
Application Notes
Begin applications when pests first appear and before populations become severe. For greenhouse and nursery foliar applications, general labeled rates range from 0.5 to 2 quarts per 100 gallons of spray solution. Use 0.5 to 1 quart per 100 gallons for whiteflies, mealybugs, and aphids, or 1 to 2 quarts per 100 gallons for thrips. Outdoor crop rates generally range from 0.25 to 1 quart per acre, with higher rates permitted under specified high-pressure or dense-foliage conditions.
Apply every 5 to 10 days under normal conditions or every 2 to 5 days under high pest pressure where directed. Thorough coverage and direct pest contact are essential, and visible control may take approximately 7 to 10 days after the first application. Shake well, maintain agitation, and use mixed spray solution on the day it is prepared. Some fungicides and pesticide formulations can harm the fungal spores; follow the compatibility and tank-mixing instructions on the label. Do not apply to poinsettias after bract formation.
