Artist Insecticide

Artist Insecticide is a professional water-dispersible granule insecticide containing 25% thiamethoxam for control of labeled sucking and chewing insect pests across a broad range of agricultural crops. Artist is a generic equivalent to Actara Insecticide and provides IRAC Group 4A neonicotinoid chemistry for use in berries, vegetables, citrus, pome fruit, stone fruit, tobacco, tropical fruit, potatoes, and other labeled crops.

Artist controls susceptible pests through contact and ingestion and is rapidly taken up into plant foliage after application. It is rainfast once the spray solution has dried on treated plants and is well suited to Integrated Pest Management and resistance-management programs when rotated with effective insecticides from different IRAC groups.

Labeled Use Sites

Artist is labeled for use on artichoke, barley, bushberries and caneberries, low-growing berries, small fruit vine crops, brassica and cole leafy vegetables, citrus fruit, cranberry, cucurbit vegetables, fruiting vegetables, leafy vegetables, mint, pome fruit, root vegetables, stone fruit, tobacco, tropical fruit, and tuberous and corm vegetables. Specific labeled crops include strawberries, grapes, broccoli, cabbage, citrus, cucumbers, melons, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, apples, pears, peaches, potatoes, tobacco, and numerous other crops listed on the product label. Do not use in nurseries, greenhouses, plant propagation houses, or on plants grown for use as transplants.

Target Pests

Artist controls or suppresses numerous labeled pests including aphids, flea beetles, leafhoppers, whiteflies, Japanese beetles, mealybugs, sharpshooters, psyllids, soft scales, armored scales, citrus black fly, citrus leafminer, root weevils, thrips, cucumber beetles, leafminers, Colorado potato beetle, stink bugs, plant bugs, plum curculio, cranberry weevil, fruit flies, grasshoppers, and other crop-specific pests listed on the label. Some pests are labeled for suppression rather than control depending on crop and application rate.

Application Notes

Apply Artist when pest populations begin to build but before economically damaging levels are reached. Use enough water to provide thorough and uniform coverage of foliage, especially under dense canopy or hot, dry conditions. Artist is rapidly taken up through foliage and becomes rainfast once the spray solution has dried on the treated plant surface.

Application rates, preharvest intervals, and minimum treatment intervals vary significantly by crop. Many labeled crop rates range from approximately 1.5 to 5.5 oz per acre. Follow all crop-specific annual limits and pollinator-protection requirements. Artist is highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment on blooming crops or weeds, so all bee and pollinator restrictions on the label must be followed. Always read and follow the complete product label.
