Amparo Herbicide

Amparo Herbicide is a professional systemic herbicide containing aminopyralid for selective control of invasive, noxious, annual, biennial, and perennial broadleaf weeds, selected woody plants, vines, and certain annual grasses. Its Group 4 synthetic auxin chemistry provides postemergence activity throughout susceptible plants while also delivering residual soil activity against susceptible emerging seedlings and regrowth of certain perennial weeds.

A generic equivalent to Milestone Herbicide with the same active ingredient and concentration, Amparo is labeled for Range & Pasture, CRP acres, wildlife habitat, natural areas, rights-of-way, industrial vegetation management, wheat, and field corn. Its low use rates, systemic activity, residual performance, broad application flexibility, and tolerance of many established desirable grasses make it a valuable tool for invasive-species management and broadleaf weed control.

Features & Benefits

✓ Contains 40.6% aminopyralid salt delivering 21.1% aminopyralid acid equivalent and 2 lb ae per gallon

✓ Group 4 systemic synthetic auxin provides long-term control of difficult invasive and noxious broadleaf weeds

✓ Provides both postemergence activity and residual preemergence control of susceptible emerging seedlings

✓ Controls major thistles, knapweeds, starthistles, invasive knotweeds, purple loosestrife, tropical soda apple, and selected woody plants

✓ Most well-established perennial grasses are tolerant when treated according to label directions

✓ Flexible broadcast, spot, aerial, foliar, basal bark, cut-stump, tree-injection, and other woody-plant treatment methods

✓ Generic equivalent to Milestone® with additional labeled broadleaf weed-control uses in wheat and field corn

Labeled Use Sites

Amparo is labeled for rangeland, permanent grass pastures including grasses grown for hay, Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres, grazed areas, natural areas, prairie-management sites, wildlife openings, wildlife habitat and management areas, campgrounds, parks, recreation areas, trailheads and trails, seasonally dry flood plains, deltas, marshes, prairie potholes, and vernal pools.

Non-crop uses include airports, barrow ditches, communication and electrical transmission lines, utility rights-of-way, fence rows, gravel pits, industrial sites, military sites, mining and drilling areas, oil and gas pads, non-irrigation ditch banks, parking lots, petroleum tank farms, pipelines, roadsides, railroads, storage areas, dry stormwater retention areas, substations, and unimproved rough turf. Agricultural uses also include spring wheat, winter wheat, durum wheat, and field corn. Amparo is not labeled for lawns, golf courses, athletic fields, commercial sod production, ornamental plantings, or other high-maintenance fine turf.

Application Notes

For Range & Pasture, natural areas, CRP, and non-crop applications, Amparo may be applied as a ground or aerial broadcast treatment, calibrated spot treatment, high- or low-volume foliar spray, basal bark treatment, stem-bark treatment, cut-stubble treatment, cut-stump treatment, tree injection, hack-and-squirt treatment, or frill and girdle treatment according to the target species and site. Most broadcast weed-control rates range from approximately 3 to 7 fl oz per acre. Do not apply more than a total of 7 fl oz per acre per year from broadcast, spot, or repeat treatments. Spot treatments may use an equivalent broadcast rate up to 14 fl oz per acre provided no more than 50% of an acre is treated at that rate.

For optimum uptake and translocation, treat actively growing weeds and avoid mowing, haying, shredding, burning, or soil disturbance for at least 14 days following application. A high-quality nonionic surfactant containing at least 80% active ingredient is recommended at 0.25% to 0.5% v/v under hot, dry, dusty, low-humidity conditions or when treating mature or heavily pubescent weeds. Amparo may be tank mixed with appropriately labeled herbicides for broader weed and brush control. Follow separate crop-specific rates and timing for wheat and field corn.
