Floating Aquatic Weed Control

Floating Aquatic Weed Control

Floating aquatic weeds such as duckweed, watermeal, and water hyacinth grow on or near the water surface and can spread rapidly under favorable conditions. Product choice depends on the species, coverage, water movement, and approved water uses.

Choosing the Right Product

Confirm the plant rather than treating all surface growth alike. Compare contact and systemic aquatic herbicides, labeled target species, treatment concentration, application method, and whether an aquatic surfactant is required for exposed foliage.

Use and Application Considerations

Review water-use restrictions and dissolved-oxygen precautions. Dense mats may require staged treatment and follow-up applications. Address nutrient inputs and water movement where practical, and use only products labeled for the water body and target plant.
