Safari 20 SG Systemic Insecticide
Safari 20 SG Insecticide is a professional super-systemic insecticide containing 20% dinotefuran for rapid, broad-spectrum control of difficult insect pests on greenhouse, nursery, landscape, interiorscape, forestry, and ornamental plants. Its highly water-soluble chemistry promotes rapid uptake and translocation through actively growing plants, making Safari especially effective against whiteflies, scales, mealybugs, adelgids, leafminers, root weevils, borers, psyllids, fungus gnat larvae, and other damaging ornamental pests.
Powered by IRAC Group 4A neonicotinoid chemistry, Safari provides exceptional application flexibility through foliar spray, soil drench, soil injection, broadcast soil treatment, basal trunk spray, and labeled chemigation programs. Root applications provide systemic movement throughout the plant, while foliar applications deliver translaminar and locally systemic activity for fast professional insect control.

Labeled Use Sites
Safari 20 SG is labeled for ornamental plants in greenhouses, nurseries, lathhouses, shadehouses, interior plantscapes, outdoor commercial and residential landscapes, tree plantations, reforestation nurseries, forests, and wooded areas. Safari is also labeled for selected vegetable transplants grown in enclosed structures.
Target Pests
Safari 20 SG controls labeled adelgids including Hemlock Woolly and Balsam Woolly Adelgid; Japanese beetle adults; lacebugs; leaf beetles; leafhoppers including glassy-winged sharpshooter; leafminers; mealybugs; psyllids; Black Vine Weevil and Diaprepes root weevils; sawfly larvae; armored and soft scales; whiteflies including Ficus, giant, greenhouse, silverleaf and sweetpotato B- and Q-biotypes; fungus gnat larvae; bagworms; Eastern tent caterpillar; gall wasps; gypsy moth larvae; flatheaded borers including Bronze Birch and Emerald Ash Borer; peachtree borer; pine tip moth larvae; roundheaded borers; Walnut Twig Beetle; Mountain Pine Beetle; white grubs including Oriental beetle; and other label-listed pests. Selected aphids and thrips, including Western flower thrips, are suppression claims rather than full control claims.
Application Notes
For ornamental foliar applications, Safari is generally applied at 4 to 8 oz per 100 gallons of water. For containerized ornamental soil drenches, the label generally uses 12 to 24 oz per 100 gallons, with application volume adjusted according to container size and media volume. When applied to soil, Safari is absorbed by actively growing roots and moved upward through the plant; control may occur in as little as one day in small containerized herbaceous plants but may take several weeks in large landscape trees.
Safari may also be applied by soil injection and basal trunk spray to labeled trees and shrubs. Basal trunk applications generally use 12 to 24 oz per gallon of water on larger trees, while specialized rates apply to smaller ornamental and Christmas trees. For Emerald Ash Borer, manufacturer guidance supports soil drench, soil injection, and basal trunk treatments. For Mountain Pine Beetle on lodgepole pine, Safari basal trunk treatments use 12 to 24 oz per gallon plus 0.25% v/v nonionic surfactant. Follow all pollinator restrictions and do not apply to flowering plants while bees are foraging.
