Bareground vegetation control products manage unwanted grasses, broadleaf weeds, and brush in areas where little or no plant growth is desired. Depending on the product label, these treatments may be used around gravel driveways, fence lines, storage areas, parking areas, utility sites, and other non-crop locations.

Choosing the Right Type of Control

Some products provide post-emergent control of weeds that are already growing, while others provide residual control that helps prevent new weeds from emerging. Combination products may offer both. When comparing options, consider the treatment site, the weeds present, how quickly control is needed, and whether extended residual activity is appropriate for the area.

Important Application Considerations

Many bareground products are non-selective and can injure desirable lawns, trees, shrubs, and other plants. Residual herbicides may also affect roots extending into the treated area. Measure the application area carefully and review the product label for approved sites, target weeds, application rates, soil restrictions, rainfall requirements, and precautions around desirable vegetation and water. Always use the product only as directed by its label.
