Aquatic algaecides are used to manage labeled filamentous, planktonic, attached, and other algae in approved ponds, lakes, canals, and water systems. Algae can resemble aquatic plants, so identification should come before treatment.

Determine the algae type, coverage, water temperature, and treatment area. Compare active ingredients, contact activity, water chemistry requirements, formulation, application method, and whether the label lists the specific algae or site.

Use and Application Considerations

Measure water accurately and follow label directions for treatment concentration, dissolved oxygen, water use, fish sensitivity, irrigation, and repeat applications. Avoid treating too much growth at once when decomposition could reduce oxygen, especially during warm weather.
